TEWDI Uganda ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our beneficiaries, partners, donors, staff, and website users. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information in line with Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act (2019) and international best practices.

1. Who we are

TEWDI Uganda is a registered non-governmental organization in Uganda working to empower vulnerable groups — especially elderly women, widows, youth, and children — through sustainable development initiatives.

2. Information we collect

We may collect personal information in the following ways:

- Directly from you: full name, gender, and date of birth; contact details (phone, email, postal address); national ID or registration details (for beneficiaries or staff); photos, testimonies, or video recordings (with consent).

- Through our website: IP addresses and browser data (via cookies); contact form submissions; newsletter sign-ups.

- From third parties: partner organizations; public databases (where applicable).

3. How we use your information

  • Deliver our programs and services effectively.
  • Communicate with beneficiaries, donors, and stakeholders.

You have the right to access your personal data, request correction or deletion, withdraw consent at any time, and file a complaint with the National Personal Data Protection Office (NPDPO) if you believe your data has been misused.

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share your information with authorized government or regulatory bodies (when required), partner NGOs or agencies for project delivery (only as necessary and with safeguards), and data processors such as IT service providers under confidentiality agreements.

6. Data storage and security

We store personal data securely using both physical and electronic measures: password-protected systems, restricted file access, locked cabinets for hard-copy files. We retain data only as long as necessary for its purpose or as required by law.

8. Children's privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or guardian. If we discover such data was collected without appropriate consent, we will delete it promptly.
